Hakutyo-ohashi (The swan bridge)

The swan bridge is a long and big suspension bridge in Muroran. The span of a bridge is 1380m. The bridge of height is about 140m. The bridge built in 1998. You need not pay a toll to cross the bridge. The illuminated bridge is very beautiful. It seems as if it is a swan with its wings extended. There are two big windmills producing electricity near the bridge. Two windmills are illuminated at night too. You can go to Mitara, which is a memorial museum of the bridge, Yataimura which has a lot of stands including ramen, octopus flitters, buckwheat noodles and ice-cream cone, and the aquarium near the bridge. There is a festival in summer. You can see a firework display. Many people go to see it every year. You can enjoy the bridge all through year.

Sapporo Station

Sapporo station is a landmark of Sapporo city. There are more than two million people around this city and they come to Sapporo city to go to school, work, go shopping and etc. People who use public transport always come to this station. That is to say, a lot of people gather in Sapporo station. If you want to go shopping, I will recommend you to go to JR tower, Stellar Place and Daimaru. There are a lot of stores there. The upper layer of the building, there are many restaurants. You may worry which kind of food you choose. There is also a cinema at the top of this building. If you have a lot of free time to wait JR line, you should go to cinema. Until now, I explained about functions of this station, however there are another good spot of this station. You can enjoy watching designs. A clock which is middle of this station is very beautiful. It was designed by famous designer. Then, this clock is moving with the solar system. . Inside of this station, there are strange objets. There are still another highlight that you should see in this station. What do you say to going with no reasons to this station?


How to get there: This station is center of this city, therefore you can come with any transport. If you want to use subway, you can use Nanboku line and Toho line. You can not use Tozai line because this subway does not run to Sapporo station. In JR line and bus, this is the last station. You can not miss it absolutely.

When to go: If you want to go shopping in Sapporo station, stores open until 11p.m. If you want to use transport, you can use it until 0a.m.

Sapporo Station

It is the most important gateway of Hokkaido. You can go to anywhere part of Hokkaido by train. For example, Hakodate, Asahikawa, Kushiro and so on. Bus terminal also next to the station. You can go other part of Hokkaido where there isn’t a railway. You can also go to anywhere of Sapporo city by bus and subway from here. There are many kinds shops inside there. For instance, foods, clothing, accessories and so on. You won’t be bored when you stay at there. There is also a lot of entertainment there. You can also enjoy eating there. There are many kinds of restaurants. Of course, you can eat many fresh marine products of Hokkaido. You can also eat many kinds of food such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Western dish, Mexican and so on. You won’t miss food from your country. In the middle of June, Yosakoi festival takes place many place of Sapporo. You can see imposing figure of dancers at the south gate square of Sapporo station, but Odori park is bigger and enjoyer than here.How to get there: to go to Sapporo station, take the Airport rapid train from New Chitose Airport. It takes 36 minutes. The train costs about \1,040. And you can also get there by Airport bus and taxi.When to go: Sapporo welcomes your visiting anytime. There are many festivals. Especially, Snow festival(February) and Yosakoi festival(June) are famous.

Maruyama

My favorite place is Maruyama . This area is quite close to the city center of Sapporo. Maruyama park is famous park in Sapporo. There are stadium, a baseball ground and a tennis court in the park, so you can enjoy playing sports. This park is also famous cherry blossom viewing place, so many people come here in early May. Some people enjoy eating mutton barbecue.
Maruyama zoo is crowded with children and their parents on weekends. You can see a variety of animals close to. There are many chances for you to experience exciting time with animals. For example, you can try feeding squirrel monkeys or touching rabbits. Next to the zoo is an amusement park. Children can spend a nice time.
How to get there: to get to Maruyama park, take the subway Tozai line to Maruyama park station, and walk for five minutes from there.

Date

Date is near to the Sapporo. It takes an hour half by limited express. You get off the Datemonbetsu station. Also it takes two hours by a car.
There is no fog and it is warm all year around. Persimmon trees have delicious fruit, so it is said that “Date is Warm place of north.” The city has about 38000 people. People can live very comfortably.
There is a covered shopping arcade. This arcade has a Sendai flavor. There is a Kitakogane kitchen midden in Date. At the place, you can experience to dig up and see the ancient dwelling. I think that you will be impressed and surprised.
Moreover, Date Musha festival takes place in summer. Many people and floats dance to music.There are booths. You can see the Yosakoi as you eat grilled chicken, a shaved ice, oden, chocolate banana and so on. There is Usu mountain too. The mountain is active volcano and exploded in 2000. You can see close to the mountain. There are many tourist attractions in Date. Come and see Date if you want to travel.

Sapporo Sato Land.

Sapporo Sato Land is a big park!
It is well known as place where people can have contact with animals and nature. We can see and touch cows, pony, goats and sheep, and we can also horse riding. We can eat Soft cream made from fresh milk.

In spring, we can see many beautiful flowers. If you apply in aduance, you can also experience of milk from cows and make cheese. It is popular among children.
It is so large. Sometimes, people hold a flea market that sells vegetable. You can buy fresh vegetables from that local farmer’s house, and you can have a barbecue there.
On the weekend, families go there. Let’s come and enjoy with nature in there!

You can get there by take a bus from the near by subway station.
It takes about one hour from Odori.

Piashiri

There are three kinds of ski jump run in Nayoro. A big competition of ski jump is held every year there. A famous player comes for the meeting, and a lot of spectators come. When there is a competition, it is crowded with many people. The ski jump run can be used not only winter but also in summer. I think it is very good for players. The ski jump run surrounded by forest. Various animals inhabit the forest, including bears, foxes, raccoon dogs, rabbits, squirrels, many birds, and the great spotted woodpeckers which is a symbol of Nayoro. There is a ski run, a cross-country course, a curling place and a skating place near the ski jump run, so we can play most of winter sports around there. Therefore it is used as a training camp well.

The Betsukai hot spring

The hot spring is only a short car ride away from center of Betsukai.　It　is in the countryside and tree is only forest, but the hot spring has a high popularity among tourist, who like to take a bath there. The hot spring helps heal various pains, including, stiff neck, joint pain, muscular pain, backache so the hot spring is popular among not only tourist also the local like the hot spring. The hot spring is open from 10 to 9p.m. The view from a open-air bath of the hot spring is very beautiful and we can see many animals from the bath.


There is a restaurant, a Japanese-style hotel, and a municipal park near the hot spring. Almost of the tourists stay at the hotel and eat a meal in the restaurant. The hotel is very old and quaint village atmosphere. The view from open-air bath of the hot spring is very beautiful we can see many trees. In fall the trees turn colors.

The municipal park has a river in center of the park. The tourists go for a walk in the park.

When to go: The hot spring is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The best time to go is winter.

How to go: to get to Betsukai, take a JR to Kushiro from Sapporo. Next take a bus to Betsukai from Kushiro. Also you can go to Betsukai from Sapporo by car. If you use freeway, it take 7 hours.

Teine Olympia

My hometown, Hoshioki, is in the Teine ward. Teine ward is good place for me, and also for you, maybe. Teine has some leisure places. Do you know about Teine Olympia? This is the place to ski, and where was held Sapporo Olympic. We can see fantastic views if you visit in winter. I’d like to advise your seeing snow-scape. Pure white snow are all over the ground, and falling snow twinkled in the lights. It’ll move you. If you visit there with your boyfriend or girlfriend, you should visit there at night. The views which you can see at the top of mountain at night are more beautiful than that of the day. Both of you will get precious memories there. Also, in summer, we can use as a nice amusement ground. We can also see nice the environments if you visit in summer. There are big Ferris wheel( Kanransya, in Japanese), Haunted house, Merry-go-round, and so on.

Wakkanai

Wakkanai is at the top of Hokkaido. The famous places are Wakkanai Park and central shopping arcade. Many people go to Wakkanai Park for camping, picnics and barbecue because there are waterworks and barbecue set there. You can see the cherry trees are in full bloom in May and Mt. Rishiri Fuji over the sea in fine weather. In summer night, some people go to graveyard near Wakkanai Park for a test of people’s courage. Next to Wakkanai Park, there is one hundred commemoration tower. This tower is 80m and you can see view of Wakkanai from top floor. In this tower, the history of Wakkanai is displayed. The central shopping arcade has many shops. If you want to buy a souvenir, you should go to there. My favorite shops in there are Koukado, Kanariya and Aizawa. Koukado is confection. There are also Japanese cakes and cakes, but my favorite sweet is Dorayaki Ice which two pancakes with ice cream in between. Next, Kanariya is a pet shop. This shop has many kind of pets. For example, it has dog, cats, reptiles, goldfishes, owl, and so on. In during Hokumon shrine festival, it has lottery. If you’ll win the first prize, you will be able to get the dachshund. The last one is Aizawa which is big supermarket. You can get the cheap goods and souvenir of Wakkanai in inside.


HOW to get there: to get Wakkanai Park, take a taxi from Wakkanai station. The taxi costs about one thousand yen. To get central shopping arcade, walk for ten minutes from Wakkanai station.

When to go: Wakkanai Park is open 24 hours a day. Aizawa is open from 8:00 to 19:00. Koukado is open from 9:00 to 21:00. Kanariya is open from 10:00 to 20:00.

Sapporo Dome

Sapporo Dome is a very good place. Some events were held there. For example, soccer game, baseball game, special sports lecture, Famous musician’s concert, etc, were held. These events were very exciting. When there are no events, “Dome tour” takes place. In this tour, we can see the hidden areas of Sapporo Dome. There are shops in this dome. When we want to eat, we can eat delicious food. Also, souvenirs are sold in dome’s shop. It’s convenient for tourists to buy souvenirs. There is an observatory in this dome. A view from the observatory is beautiful. Also, we can use many training facilities, so we can enjoy exercise. Sapporo Dome is big dome; so many people can enjoy various things there.

How to go
There is a Sapporo Dome near the Fukuzumi station, so we ride Touhou subway, and take off Fukuzumi station. Then we walk about 10minite. Sapporo Dome is prominent, so we can see soon. Also, we can go to Sapporo Dome by bus too. We take a “Chuou bus” and take off a stop of “Sapporo mae”

When to go
It’s change for purpose, but we enjoy all the year around.

Mt. Moiwa.

Mt. Moiwa is a mountain in Sapporo. This altitude is 531m. It is a mountain that became the first natural monument in Hokkaido. There are many animals and plants. You can see beautiful nature and possibly wild animals. This mountain is popular place in Sapporo. Many people visit to sightseeing, climbing, and flower viewing. In winter, a lot of people visit to go skiing. The view of mountaintop is beautiful. The Night view is especially beautiful.

How to get there:
How to get Mt.moiwa take the streetcar and get off at the station ROPE WAY IRIGUTI. It cost 170yen for adult, 90yen for children. Also you can get discount ticket of ride ropeway. You will find a road that it takes you Mt.Moiwa.

When to go:
All seasons OK. In spring, you can see many flowers, in summer, you can climb up and see beautiful night view. In fall, you can see turn red and turn yellow, in winter, you can ski.

Kitahiroshima

Kitahiroshima still has a lot of natural environment because forest accounts for 40 percent of the town. It is a model district for an environmentally friendly town in Hokkaido. Kitahiroshima has a cycling road for bicycles. The name is Erufin Road. The distance of the road is 1.8㎞. Also Erufin Road links to Shiroishi in Sapporo. The distance is about 21㎞. The path between Kaminopporo and Kitahiroshima is wide, so people can drive easily. On the way, there is parking lot for bicycles and bathroom in the forest. Also, there are benches and tables where you can eat lunch. Erufin Road starts from Kitahiroshima station. It takes about 16 minutes to Sapporo station by rapid train.

The Cuckoo clock and museum

On way to the central part of Kitami from Sapporo, you can get to a town called Onneyu that is the famous for hot springs. There is a cuckoo clock which is the tallest in Japan at the visitor’s place for rest called the station of road. The clock is twenty meters high. It’s nice to visit because its mechanism is nice. At the start of each hour, the dolls appear and dance with music. Finally the big cuckoo appears and sings to announce the time. This is popular with children.
In central area, there is a museum called Hokumoken culture center. There are four parts, science, history and planetarium. The museum is used for learning something for students. You can experience the simulations of earthquake and strong wind. You can also learn Kitami’s history. Art, calligraphy and photograph exhibitions often hold in the museum.

How to get there: to get to Onneyu, driving a car from Asahikawa. It is on the way to central part of Kitami. To get to Hokumoken culture center, take the bus from Kitami station to the front of culture center bus stop. The cost is 200 yen. You pay 460 yen for entrance the museum.

Maruyama Park

I think that Maruyama is quiet place in Sapporo. Hokkaido shrine is a famous place in Maruyama Park . When I go to there, I sometime draw a fortune slip and this shrine sells many kind of charms. It is visited by many people. If we pay a visit to a shrine on New Year’s Day, it will be crowded. A festival takes place and there are many stalls in the shrine

In May, we can go out to see the cherry blossoms at Maruyama park and we can see very beautiful cherry blossoms at Maruyama park. Many people are doing Genghis Khan in this season. Maruyama Park is connected to Hokkaido shrine.

There are many sweets shops in Maruyama. I have been to two sweets shops in Maruyama. For example, we can eat cakes and light meal causette The sandwiches in this shop are very delicious. This place has a good atmosphere. I ate cake at Anniversary of sweets shop with my friend. The shop is in the Daimaru department store and we can by Sapporo station.


How to get there: to get to the Maruyama, take the subway to the Touzai line. We should get off Maruyama Park.

Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park is located in north Maruyama primeval forest and next to the Hokkaido Shrine. This park has various facilities for sports, including, an athletic field, a tennis court, a baseball ground. This park is also well-known for cherry blossoms. In spring, so many people visit there for cherry blossom‐viewing picnic, and many people visit here in early May. There are also other many kinds of trees. Almost trees are tall, so it is cool and comfortable in summer, so many people keep themselves cool. Therefore in this season this park is full of men and women of all ages. You can also look squirrels. Next to Maruyama Park is Maruyama Zoo and an amusement park. It is crowded with parents and children in summer vacation.
How to get there; to get Maruyama Park, take the Sapporo city subway Tozai line to Maruyama Park station, and walk for about five minute from there.

Hakucyo-ohashi

The Hakucyo-ohashi is big and long white bridge in Muroran. This bridge looks like rainbow bridge in Tokyo. It spans a bay and connects in Muroran. On the side of the bridge, there are many street stalls, selling yakitori, takoyaki, a shaved ice, etc. The park spreads out and there is a view of the sea. The view from the bridge is very beautiful and a splendid view unfolds before your eyes. Then we can see a row of houses along the street, mountains, the city, In the opposite side , we can see the ocean.
In summer, summer festival take place every year and has many fireworks.

Maruyama Zoo

Maruyama Zoo is very famous place in Sapporo.　The zoo is very crowded on weekend. There are many animals in the zoo. For example, there are elephants, giraffes, gorillas, deer, bears, peacocks, monkeys, hippopotamus, wolves, and more cute animals in the zoo. Pupils or junior high school students sometimes comes the zoo for a school excursion.

There are small amusement grounds in the zoo. Children enjoy the corkscrew, merry-go-round and more ride. Asahiyama Memorial Park, Maruyama Base Ball Ground, Maruyama Sports arena and Hokkaido Shrine are near the zoo. The baseball game is played at the base ball ground in spring and summer.

If you want to go Maruyama Zoo, you can go by subway. You should take　Tozai line and you take off Maruyama　Koen　station. After you get off subway, you can go the zoo on foot and you take about 15 minutes.

The zoo is opened all year around, so you can enjoy the zoo in winter. But, it close on December29, 30, and 31. The zoo opens at 9:00am to 5:00pm on February 1st to October 31　ｓｔ and the zoo opens at 9:00am to 4:00pm on November 1st to January 31st.

If you want to the zoo, you must pay. Adults pay 600yen and children are free. If you come zoo by your car, you also pay money for parking fees.
The Maruyama　zoo is very interesting and famous place in Sapporo. You can have a good time at the zoo.

Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park is in Sapporo. You can go there by subway, Touzai line. The station is the fourth from Odori station. Get off the train, you can find KFC on the right and go straight KFC’s street. Go on walking, you will see little forest and there is Maruyama Park. There are many cherry blossom trees, so people come to see it and eat and drink there in the spring. Maruyama Park’s cherry blossom is famous and really beautiful therefore companies or university’s clubs use their events, to a cherry blossom-viewing picnic. Then Maruyama baseball ground is near the Maruyama Park. In the summer, high school baseball games are played at there. In addition sometimes Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters plays there too. Many people come there and watch exciting games with beers and foods. After summer, you can see colored leaves in Maruyama Park. Cherry blossom tree’s leaves turned in autumn. It’s very beautiful too so a lot of people come to see it and walk around the park. In the winter, people pay a visit to The Hokkaido Shrine, near the Maruyama Park on New Year’s Day. Like this we can enjoy there all the year.

Ume Park

Ume park is a big park in Kiyota-ku. A kind of this park is a forest park. Men and women of all ages visit there to do something interesting. For example, they enjoy picnic, talking, drinking liquor, playing games, sleeping and so on. Every spring in a year, there are many cherry trees. These trees are very beautiful so they go out to see them there. But spring is over, the trees are out of bloom. They look forward to seeing them next spring. In summer, they sell ice-cream cone there. It is very popular with many people. When you go to the park, you do not have to pay money. You should go there.

How to go : you can go there by car, bike, or on foot. If you go there from Sapporo station, you should take Tohou Line that is bound for Fukuzumi. And you take a taxi or bus.

When to go : spring and summer are the best. If it is winter, it is very cold there.
